Talk:Farming NPCs on the second day, a beginners guide to fast progression
I've been trying out this method on Server 112,and have found it to be unprofitable. Attacking a level 1 NPC village with just over the advised number of warriors and workers (2250 warriors, 1250 workers), I carried home 33600 food, 6720 lumber, 6720 stone, 6720 iron, and 18480 gold. It cost me 270 workers and 455 warriors (after healing). I translated the military loss into resource loss and subtracted that from the gain, and came up with a net of -11350 food, -16975 lumber, 1216 stone, -3728 iron, and 18480 gold. I translated net resources into gold at the prevailing rate, summed it with the gold gain, and came up with -1915 gold, a net loss. The hero I am using has a 45 attack... not really high, but not atrociously low, either. Perhaps a note should be included informing the potential early NPC farmer that there is some minimum hero attack value at which this method is profitable... but given I'm taking a loss, I am wondering just how profitable this method really is on day 2, particularly considering the resources that go into building this army could potentially be put into building resource fields. - Tarvok, 12/7/09
I want to say that I have used this method on about 4 servers already and it works. Not only you get a heap of resources fast in the begining but also your prestige goes high like crazy. Maybe Tarvok's problem is that he didn't scout the NPC before, so the NPC was not refilled. That is the number of losses I also take at about 300 workers and 450 warriors, but so does the guide says, you lose 750 infantry. The rest can carry all the resources from a lev 1 NPC. So the method works but be careful to scout ahead the NPC you attack and make sure it has full resources. Also to reduce your loses try to get by the third day about 40-50 transporters. It eliminates the workers loses.Transporters work best if you have a lev 1 or lev 2 NPC in the range of 3-5 miles, otherwise the march time wil be bigger, but still you won't loose any of the transports compared with the workers. This method can be further used for prestige farming if you are interested but this topic goes into another section. Have fun. Lady Nerevarine 01/12/2010
